Pastor talked about Ephesians 2.....and I love these verses because it's exactly what we need to hear and just let it soak into our heart and soul: Its nothing of what we do that makes us holy and gains us a ticket to Heaven! (nothing about clothes, hair, material traditions, etc) it's ALL ABOUT THE MERCY AND GRACE OF GOD....BEING ADOPTED INTO HIS FAMILY BECAUSE OF HIS GREAT LOVE FOR US. That's how we get to Heaven!!!
We are saved because of His grace! We are not saved because of works!!!
It is a gift from our Father.
Pastor then painted this awesome picture (since there were 2 new babies in our church today...Lil Miss Aubrie being one of them;)
It's like how we are with newborn babies. We love to lavish them with gifts and adorable clothes, blankets, burp rags, etc when they are born. And the baby doesn't care......the baby doesn't ask for it. we do it because we love this child so much and want to take care of it and just love on it. And that's how it is with God...our Father. He lavishes us again and again, even when we don't ask for it. It's a gift that He gives. We don't have to try harder by our works.
I think sometimes as Christians we think we just have to try hard to "be good enough" for Jesus. (which obviously as humans we will mess up) but we are already good enough as we are. That's why Jesus died on the Cross! When He died, it was finished. We are good enough because His blood covers us! Hallelujah! Thank You Jesus!!!
Ephesians 2
" But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
