When God Honks

I just witnessed and heard the most awful noise ever.

Our living room windows are open and we live on a highway.
I hear the usual sound of the school bus that I hear every week day at this time.

Except today I hear the loud shrill horn of the bus.....very loudly....very long.
And then I hear the squeal of tires from an oncoming car.
One of the most awful noises.

I look out just in time to see the car screech to an abrupt stop and the boy
that was walking in front of the bus to go to his home...across the highway....
I see him abruptly stop too to see if he is in danger.

The car does stop....just barely....the body of the vehicle lurching as if it wanted to keep
going on it's path. I see the driver shaking his head and apologizing out his window.

And the child continues his walk towards his home....in safety.

As I stand there, I hear God speak again as I start crying.
"Laura, I do this for you too. I honk my horn just as the busdriver takes
responsibility for her passengers and keeps them as safe as possible.....I honk for you.
I hold you closer when danger seems just a screech away. I can keep it away from you.
But you have to keep trusting Me and leaning into Me. And walk right beside me."

I have a deeper respect for those busdrivers today. And once again, I'm in awe of how
God continually speaks Words of Love to us. He is the Greatest Father of all...
and His Love is the greatest of all.
