A Velveteen Mother
"And maybe that is all — a Velveteen Mother is a mother who keeps bending her worn knees with prayers that her child may walk straight paths. Never ceasing to pray for her own crooked heart.
Never forgetting — Train up a child in the way he should go and be ready to forgive him. The Way he should go is down a road named Grace.
Why do I forget that becoming Real — becoming a velveteen mother – it will hurt in a thousand ways?
The weary and the wearing away and it the most beautiful part."

Song of the Day
http://youtu.be/FJFlY0mwFks
Faithful, forever You are faithful
Father to the fatherless
You uphold the one who feels forsaken
You are faithful, God
Faithful, forever You are faithful
Lover of the wounded heart
You defend the poor and the forgotten
You are faithful, God
And I will sing to the maker of Heaven and Earth
God, You reign forever and Your love will endure
Faithful and true is the name of the Lord
You are faithful, God
Faithful, forever You are faithful
Shelter for the fragile soul
You lift us up, You hold us all together
You are faithful, God
You are there in every season of my soul
You are there, You're the anchor that will hold
You are there, in the valley of the shadows
You are faithful, God
Faithful, forever You are faithful
Father to the fatherless
You uphold the one who feels forsaken
You are faithful, God
Faithful, forever You are faithful
Lover of the wounded heart
You defend the poor and the forgotten
You are faithful, God
And I will sing to the maker of Heaven and Earth
God, You reign forever and Your love will endure
Faithful and true is the name of the Lord
You are faithful, God
Faithful, forever You are faithful
Shelter for the fragile soul
You lift us up, You hold us all together
You are faithful, God
You are there in every season of my soul
You are there, You're the anchor that will hold
You are there, in the valley of the shadows
You are faithful, God

Dandelions
Be More Like A Dandelion
Who would have thought it could be inspiring to be compared to a dandelion? But it is! Let’s all go out and be pretty little weeds in the world!
------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite their bad reputation, dandelions are pretty little flowers with their yellow strands all tucked neatly into the center. And truly they are the most beautiful of all flowers when presented clutched in a child’s dirty little hand. No one gets yelled at for picking them. Perhaps they grow only to be used and enjoyed by children.
Dandelions are ignored or attacked, never nurtured or cared for, and yet they always bloom profusely. They demand no pampering or special attention to yield their bright blossoms; they pop up in fields, in lawns, and between cracks in the sidewalk, even in the best neighborhoods. Can you imagine trying to grow them in a garden? They’d sneak through the boundaries and pop their sunny yellow faces up in the surrounding lawn. They would never stay put!
Christians should be more like dandelions. Our sunny yellow faces should be a reminder that simple faith has deep roots that are impossible to dislodge. Our vast number would show the world that even though we are not fancy or pampered we are evident everywhere, even in the best neighborhoods.
We should be as easily accessible as a dandelion. Jesus is. We need to get out of our gardens and jump across the boundaries that keep us where people expect to find us. We need to show our sunny yellow faces in all the spots that need a little brightening up – the crack in the sidewalk or the lawn of a country club.

Encouragement for Today
Found this encouragement today at The Preacher's Wife...Holly Furtick.
And loved it.....so I'm gonna share it.....
"...the reason Jesus gave John the answer he gave was because Jesus did not want to affirm John's faith in John, he wanted to affirm John's faith in Jesus. And that perhaps, when we our faith is shaken (like John's the baptist's was), Jesus is talking behind our backs.
Pastor Stephen Furtick went on to give us 3 words of encouragement.
1.You are doing better than you think your are. In your job, as a mom, as a dad, as a daughter, as a student, as a Christian.
2.Your life means more than you think it does. God is using you in ways you may never know.
3.It is less about me than I think it is. It is all about God and the work that He is doing.

Pretty Picture
Every day we wake up, we have a blank,
new canvas in front of us....
it's our own choices that will make it a beautiful or
not so pretty picture for all the world to see.

Love Says They Will
Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything
They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it, love says they will
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything
They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it, love says they will

GRACE and sin
"But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more..." Romans 5:20
Why is it, when someone wrongs us or hurts us with sin that it's so hard to have grace? Because we ourselves have inflicted pain ourselves?
Why is it that it's so hard to comprehend that GRACE actually is bigger than sin?
Why is it that we jump to focus on the sin instead of extending grace?
Why is it that we hang onto sin with a tight grip but when grace is offered so freely we push it away with a cold and judgemental heart?
Why is it so hard to believe that we are worthy of grace?
...BUT GRACE WILL ALWAYS ABOUND MORE....

Monkey Stories
Overheard from the backseat last night from Ellie while coming home:"Mommy!Hurry up and get home!" Gabe replies matter-of-factly before I can:"Ellie Mommy has a speeding ticket already, she can't drive fast or the cop will get her again." and then i add,"el, i don't want another ticket so i think i'll drive the speed limit." Ellie says:"ok, mommy, just speed really fast and then when you see the cop, just drive real slow past him!" gabe adds:"well he's gonna get you too then ellie!" ha! ;)
