Friday Night Excitement

Well.....it's been one eventful night here in our neighborhood.
We got home after visiting my grandparents to cops crawling all over the town
and people standing everywhere. Jason and I had driven seperate and I had the kids.
The closer I got to our house, I saw more cops. You that feeling in your stomach you
get.....the closer you get, the more you don't really want to find out if it's something
or someone you know?

SO, I go to turn in the alley by our house and I can't get in to go to our house. It's blocked
by 4 cop cars!!! Flashing lights filling our yard....not a good sign. So I back up and go to the
neighbors that are standing outside. (not knowing if Jase was home yet..he had left a little bit
before me) She told me a car was speeding, then kept running from the cops. They then stopped and ran on foot. Nice story I thought...no big deal, got in my car and came home the other
way....pulled in the driveway and realized:

The suspect car was left right beside our garage with the passenger door open
and still running with lights on!!!!!!!!!! So spooky........
So I run to the house and Jason is inside and tells me to get back in the car while he finishes
searching our house......oh my goodness......and then I'm frozen....I want to run inside and protect
my husband if the suspects are in our house and I want to go back to the car with the kids.
So I freeze and just stand halfway between car and halfway between house. I hear the dogs
barking.....yes, they had 3 different county cops, 3 different colored uniforms, and the dogs.....
Soon Jason comes out and says, the coast is clear.....I was just praying the whole time.

I'm telling ya.......creepy.......so we assume they will soon start searching houses in our block
if they don't find them soon. The cops had told Jase when he got here to get in the house
and stay in the house. So we get the process started of putting the kids to bed and the whole time the cops are walking by the bedroom windows with flashlights and you can hear
them talking and their walky-talkys jabbering away. Did I say creepy????

We get the kids to bed and Jase heads outside to chat with the 6 cops and scary sounding dog.
They inform him everything is okay, but don't give him any details. This answer isn't good enough for me and I tell him, "Well, tell him I am a mama with 2 small kids and I want better answers than that!!!" To which he calmly replies...."Honey, everything really is okay."

Still not satisfied, I call my friend that lives 1 block over. She informs me the cop
just stopped at their house and told them the 2 suspects were in custody. They were found
in their own home.....apparantly somewhere close by here. This gets me even more fired up.
Why wouldn't the cops that are right outside our house......RIGHT BY THE CRIME SCENE...
give us details?????? Did she really have her info right?????

So we watch and sure enough....
the dog gets put back in the car, the cops all light up cigarettes and stand there all casual like.
Soon they start taking pictures of the vehicle in the exact same spot, door still open, lights
still shining into our yard....creepy. My friend said they were just waitin for the vehicle to be
towed. I just checked out the back door: The cops are all gone, but the vehicle remains. The door
is shut now but the lights are still on......just creeps me out.

Jason hugs me and says, "It's okay honey." So I pray some more and have a little ale to calm
my tummy..........and will try to go to sleep tonite. Seriously.....just too much excitement for a Friday night here in our neighborhood. The warm 70 degree weather today, getting woken up and called into work on my day off, Gabe peeing all over the floor and his new tricycle, and having my windows open in my house was too much excitement all initself......
I really didn't need anything else.

I really can't wait to hear who the no-minded nincompoops were that tried to run from the cops, thenran to their own home. And I can't wait to hear what the price of that crime is!!!!!

A Godly Mom

"I wish I could wave a magic wand and make the term “good mother” disappear forever. Not because it’s wrong for us to want to be the very best we can be, but because I believe we as mothers have allowed ourselves to be sidetracked by an impossible standard of “good”.

We keep a checklist of mothering perfections, yet overlook one ironic fact - which is that God doesn’t ever really call us to be “good mothers,” at least not as we tend to define it. Instead, He calls us to love Him, to become more like Him - that is, to be “godly” mothers.
God doesn’t want us to be “good mothers”; He simply wants us! He wants us to be His children, to draw on His strength, to learn from Him what it means to be a successful human being."

PICTURES-Copy Cats

I'm learning if the mess isn't dangerous and harming my monkies....it's okay....
I let them play because it keeps them occupied....

Seriously, I kid you not...if Ellie's not copying Gabe.....Gabe is copying Ellie......

We gotta nother new fashion statement in this household!

What can I say.....he just loves his little sister and wants to be like her!

******UPDATE***********
We had Jason's high school spring concert tonite and not wanting to do the public pee thing yet I put Gabe in a diaper. We were sitting there and he said, "Mommy I have to pee."
I just looked at him like he was speaking a foreign language. So my Mom says, "Here, let me."
She comes back and says: Well, he peed, standing up!!! ( I have been training him sitting down after trying to train standing up for months with no luck.) Is it all seriously just clicking in his mind?!?!?!?!

A Disciple

Our Pastor preached on "being a disciple of Jesus" yesterday. He posed the question:

"Are you simply a believer or are you a true disciple?"

So, I come home and look up the definitions.....

BELIEVER: (Dictionary.com) to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.

DISCIPLE: (Dictionary.com)
1.Religion.
a.one of the 12 personal followers of Christ.
b.one of the 70 followers sent forth by Christ. Luke 10:1.
c.any other professed follower of Christ in His lifetime.
2.any follower of Christ.
3.(initial capital letter) a member of the Disciples of Christ.
4.a person who is a pupil or an adherent of the doctrines of another; follower: a disciple of Freud.
–verb (used with object)
5.Archaic. to convert into a disciple.
6.Obsolete. to teach; train.

And then tonite, I read a blog that has this quote:

"The real test of the saint is not preaching the gospel, but washing disciples' feet, that is, doing the things that do not count in the actual estimate of men but count everything in the estimate of God. Paul delighted to spend himself out for God's interests in other people, and he did not care what it cost. We come in with our economical notions - "Suppose God wants me to go there - what about the salary? What about the climate? How shall I be looked after? A man must consider these things." All that is an indication that we are serving God with a reserve. The apostle Paul had no reserve. Paul focuses Jesus Christ's idea of a New Testament saint in his life, not one who proclaims the Gospel merely, but one who becomes broken bread and poured out wine in the hands of Jesus Christ for other lives." Hmmm.......I think God is trying to speak something here.

Pictures-Weekend Recap

I think we had our first halfway quiet and relaxing weekend since I can't remember when....
The two monkies kept us busy....whatever Gabe does..Ellie does and vice versa.

If Gabe wears a hat.....

Ellie wears a hat.....

Potty training is going good...we aren't doing peeing in public yet....I figure we've got to
get it mastered pretty well at home before I tackle that part. Picture above is Gabe racing
to the bathroom with wet pants before I see him ;)
Here is Gabe freaking out and standing on his tiptoes trying to get away from the puddle ;)
And this is what Little Miss Muffett does while Mommy is occupied with potty training.

Ellie loves the vaccum....so here they are "Farming".

Snuggling and watching their new favorite movie: Horton Hears a Who......a must see!

She is constantly tormenting her brother ;)

We continue to thank God for these precious little gifts.....

The love to play on Mommy's tubs of clothes when she is sorting and organizing.

This one's for you, Whitney ;) King of the throne....

At one point I found Ellie on the TOP back part of this chair and Gabe standing on the seat part..
DOUBLE TROUBLE are these kiddos ;)
