The Martian Child

So my new favorite movie....The Martian Child....starring John AND Joan Cusack....
I'm big fans of both of them.

Good, clean, cute, tear jerker movie........and now more than ever I want to adopt a child...
or 2 or 3.....I'm still working on Jason ;)

So once again.....I'm praying for God to show us if this is His will for us or just a desire of my
heart that is dramatized by watching movies like these.
Oh, and it's based on a true story...even better....all the extra stuff you can watch has the author
and his son talking about it.

A must see....family friendly film! Let me know if you watch it and what you think.

Hava good night.....enjoy this awesome fall-like weather....Did anyone notice the forecast for next week??? It's supposed to get down to the 40s at night time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pictures-Rainy Days

We got the rain we were prayin' for!!! Hallelujah! Thank You Father!! I wonder how many
farmers were doin' the happy dance today??
This is what we do on rainy days.....Gabe found a rag and thought he needed to clean
all the rain off the screen.

He then proceeded to wash his feet......

And cleaned it some more after he washed his hair....

He picked on his little sister numerous times....

And Little Miss Ellie chewed on a carrot to help her teething pains...poor baby.....

Gabe also was teaching El how to climb up on the table.....she doesn't stand a chance.....

And we also started going thru some of our fall clothes tubs....I couldn't wait til she could wear this cute purple hat and it fits!!!! Yeah!!!!
PS. I made those Cheese Muffins for supper tonite and they were greeeeeat! If you add a dash of garlic salt they taste like the ones from Red Lobster!

Whisk together dry ingredients, then stir in cheese.
In a separate bowl, whisk egg, milk, and butter together.
Pour milk mixture into dry ingredients and stir with a spoon to combine.

Explanation

I just felt like I needed to explain the massive amounts of pictures I put on our blog.

I used to scrapbook but feel like I have entered a very busy season of life. I don't want
to miss out on anything.....not a single thing with our kids growing up. So I have put scrap
booking on the back burner for however many years. Instead, I will be putting all
my pictures on the blog and that way it will be easy for me to come back and read what was
going on in that time of life.

I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Asking God's Help

Well...it's official....Jason and I are the expert ground hornet catchers/killers.
We are the new Pest Control in town ;) I just caught our 8th hornet this morning
in the big jar. Poor Gabe, now every time he sees a big jar he thinks we need to
catch a critter......it may take some time for him to understand those jars have other
purposes....like sun tea too!

This afternoon I heard a loud buzzing in the kitchen and looked up at the skylight.
There was the 2nd wasp up there in 3 days. Hmmmmm....I may need to send Jason
up there to investigate how properly those windows are sealed!

The only thing we have that will reach that high is my cobweb duster AND standing on
a chair...we have an extremely high kitchen ceiling...as pictured. So I set off to imitate
my husband's previous wasp killing charade. It took me soooooo much longer than him....
because you have to get the wasp directly in the middle of the duster as that is the only hard
enough area to actually crunch the bug. And of course, it didn't happen so easily for me. (now i, on the other hand, seem to catch the ground hornets a little easier than him....so i don't feel so bad ;)
But as I'm struggling to kill the wasp (because Heaven forbid he should escape the kitchen
and go into other areas of the house where my precious babies are!!!) I started praying....just like i do when I'm going after a huge hornet. "Lord, give the strength and ability to capture without harm."

And what do you know....but God spoke...loud and clear. And let's just say they were words I didn't really want to hear....or hard to accept the admonishment.

He said this, "Laura, why is it that you ask me for help killing these bugs but you don't ask me for help in the more important areas of your life? (a certain struggle i've had the last year).
Why aren't you trusting me in this?"

"Um, what Father?" I stutter.......

"Laura, you have to lay these things down and trust Me more. Just like I give you strength with these critter captures, I will give you all the more strength with your heart issues. All you have to do is ask Me more......lay it down at My feet completely....and TRUST ME, just as you are trusting me so easily with these bug kills. It is all in My hands and I will take care of the things that concern you. I love you and want you to just trust Me."

And with that the wasp flew down to my level and I was able to kill him with the fly swatter.
My heart was fluttering, my hands were shaking and my tummy had butterflies.
I am humbled....yet once again....and in awe of my Heavenly Father and His unending love for me. I think I will go lay on my face now in His Presence....we have some more talking to do.

The Storm

Sometimes God calms the storms... Sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms His child.

Kids

We just got done with another amazing weekend.
It entailed:

2 big cookouts, one with friends, other with family
LOTSA good food AND desserts ;)
lotsa Baggo, cornhole, whatever you want to call it
diggin' into God's Word and deep discussion
lotsa laughter

Lil Miss Ellie is cutting more teeth and possibly had a bug...we're still not sure. She had high temp starting Friday night during our big family get together at Monicals.....She was LAYING on us on the rest of the weekend and slept ALOT! The only time our kids EVER do this is when they don't feel good.

The great part of this is we actually get to enjoy rocking and holding our kids instead of them moving and ON THE GO continually. Gabe eventually just said, "Rock me! Me baby!" As in: I see you holding Ellie all the time, so I want to too! So he actually felt fine but let us rock him too....it was precious and sweet despite Ellie's fussiness.

She never seemed real hungry yesterday but I still pushed the baby food (big mistake) thinking my little girl needed to eat. But by last night she just threw it up and so the Tylenol and Motrin didn't stay down either anymore. Way to go Mommy! Wow, hopefully I will never do that again! So with her temperture up at 102, Bless Daddy's heart, he drove to our closest 24 hour pharmacy last night at 10:00 and got us the good stuff. Yes....we got to experience suppositories for the first time with our baby. It was not fun....but did the trick.

By tonite Ellie was fever free. Praise God! We got our miracle yesterday morning too....how could I forget to mention that?!?!?!!? She had 101 and I started praying, called Jason home from church....they were praying....he came home and prayed.....she was very out of it. Not moving, just laying, TOTALLY abnormal for her. No smiles....nothing. It's so sad to see yer babies like this. We put her down for her nap and when she awoke she was laughing, smiling, moving around like her normal self. So we took her to church and testified. And the whole time Jason talked with her in the front of church, she giggled and tried to take the microphone outa his hands.....it was soooooo good to see. So we praise God for that miracle....even if it only lasted half a day and she felt bad again last night....I believe that God allows things to happen for a purpose. If anything...to strengthen our faith and continue trusting in the Almighty Father.
